Early Childhood Summer Program Support Worker (Canada Summer Jobs Position) 

2 Full Time Summer Positions Available

These are 8 week long Canada Summer Jobs funded positions. These are onsite/in person positions.

Dates of employment: July 2nd 2024 – August 26th 2024

Pay: $18.40hr

35hrs/week

Position 1: Monday-Friday (hours to be determined)

Position 2: Tuesday- Saturday (hours to be determined)

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

(a) be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;

(b) be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act [S.C. 2001, c. 27]*; and

(c) be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

*International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

Some evenings & weekends may be required.

Job Description:

The Early Childhood Summer Program Support Worker is a Canada Summer Jobs position. The Program Support Worker assists the Family Support team to deliver direct playroom programming, create program planning, help with administrative tasks and support families with children 0-12 years of age, as needed, that access our services.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting and supporting the delivery of family resource programs both on-site and at satellite locations throughout Richmond.
  • Provides assistance to families accessing our services & drop-in programs including information, education, modeling appropriate behaviour/interactions towards children and stimulating play between caregivers and their children.
  • In conjunction with the staff develops, coordinates and delivers programs including literacy programs, special events and outdoor play.
  • Provides assessment, referral and one to one support for families when needed.
  • Maintains and develops good working relationships with community partners/agencies.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate statistics and report on all family support programs.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with parents/caregivers and their children birth to twelve years of age.
  • Ability to create trusting and meaningful relationships with families and their children.
  • Experience working in programs with young children.
  • Experience working in and promoting a multicultural setting.
  • Experience working in community partnerships.
  • Knowledge of community resources and referral processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Planning or working on a University degree in a related discipline, and/or Early Childhood Education certificate an asset
  • Criminal Record Check required
  • First Aid Certification an asset
  • Second language an asset.
  • Use of a vehicle for work an asset (mileage paid)

Office Administrative Assistant (Canada Summer Jobs Position)

Full Time Summer Position

Monday-Friday 9.30am – 3.30pm

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Job Description:

The Office Administrative Assistant is responsible to support the work and mission of Richmond Family Place. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative & highly motivated individual who is ready to use their skills to advance the mission of our organization. Our Office Administrative Assistant will work with the Administrative Coordinator to plan, create, organize & support daily office tasks & assist with general administration, special projects, social enterprise, fundraising & volunteer activities within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Answers telephone calls, general email inquiries & greets & directs visitors to the building.
  • General office duties as required.
  • Works on the Annual General Report for the Annual General Meeting
  • Analyze existing volunteer data bases, training materials & support networks
  • Creates new onboarding materials for volunteers
  • Supports the Richmond Family Place Thrift Store
  • Update website content as required, ensuring a continuous approach to monitoring
  • Assists the Office Administrator as required
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Working on a qualification in a related discipline (marketing, communications, administrative studies, fundraising and/or event planning)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience working in and promoting a multicultural setting
  • Strong writing skills with ability to write in a manner that aligns with Richmond Family Place values and mission
  • Organized, flexible, able to prioritize
  • Takes initiative
  • Positive & enthusiastic team player
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Proficient in the use of the Office 365 suite, data base platforms & WordPress
  • Experience working in community partnerships an asset.
  • Knowledge of community resources an asset.
  • Experience in graphic design (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) an asset
  • Photo & video design &/or production capabilities considered an asset
  • Second language is an asset, with priority given to Arabic, Spanish and Mandarin languages.
  • Knowledge of organizations serving families an asset.
  • Use of a vehicle an asset.
